Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

At Tattoo Therapy we want you to protect your new investment. We only recommend products to make healing your tattoo clean, efficient, and as simple as possible. After your tattoo is completed, it is cleaned properly and a layer of bandage is put over top that will remain on during the process of your healing journey.

Unlike Saran Wrap and traditional tattoo healing methods, the clear adhesive bandage is a medical-grade, breathable, waterproof tattoo bandage. These bandages alleviate many of the pitfalls that come with other tattoo healing methods. Primarily, the  clear adhesive bandage drastically reduces the risk of contaminants entering the wound site of a fresh tattoo. Wearing the bandage protects the area from unwanted shear/friction and allows the body to keep itself moisturized. Plus, it conveniently eliminates sessions of washing and applying aftercare to a new tattoo. The result is a tattoo healing experience that is safer, smoother, and more efficient.

For best results is recommended to leave the bandage on for at least a week of receiving your new tattoo.

How to heal with clear adhesive bandage

This layer of protection will heal your tattoo without needing to lotion or clean the tattoo daily until it is healed. You will keep the bandage on for up to a week for full healing. It’s fine if there is some plasma/blood/lymph fluid buildup under the bandage during this period. This is part of the healing process!

If you must take your clear adhesive bandage off, please continue with the following method:

  1. Slowly peel the bandage off & Gently wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap and water and be sure to pat dry with a clean disposable paper towel.

  2. If you’re not allergic to Coconut oil is a great way to remove any type of sticky-ness due to the bandage ;continue this process until it’s no longer sticky.

  3. Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment such as hustle butter or Aquaphor is a great option twice a day, but don’t put over saturate the tattoo in any ointment. The tattoo should have light shine to it not caked on !

  4. Gently wash your tattoo area twice a day with antibacterial soap and water and gently pat dry before reapplying the ointment until tattoo is fully healed.

  5. Keep applying a moisturizer daily to prevent the skin from becoming dry
